Lead Mechanical Engineer (Met-LME2-2019)

Keystone Engineering is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to join our Metairie team. The position responsibilities include:

  • Ability to perform as a project discipline lead with little guidance.

  • Generally plans work and meets deadlines without supervisor action.

  • Capable of checking drawings and calculations.

  • Interfaces with drafting group to develop, review, and PE stamp drawings (if applicable).

  • Supports the effort to prepare proposals by preparing a list of deliverables and an engineering estimate for his/her scope of work.

  • Capable of representing his/her discipline in internal and external project meetings.

  • Assists with Project Audits when required.

  • Visits vendor facilities to inspect equipment for compliance with requirements.

  • Visits job-sites to evaluate site, project requirements, and conditions.

  • Performs engineering calculations and develops analysis models for more complex projects with limited supervision.

  • Prepares inquiry and purchase requisitions, bid tabulations on simple purchases, and reviews vendor drawings for compliance with specifications.

  • Reviews & approves technical specifications.

  • Prepares sketches and performs calculations for a specific segment of a project.

  • Performs a variety of assignments requiring the application of standard design engineering techniques for a small project or selected segments of a larger project.

  • Works closely with engineers, designers, and drafters to ensure timely completion of projects.

  • Coordinates with project disciplines and project control to prepare:

    • Work Breakdown Structure

    • Man Hour Estimate

    • Project Schedule

    • Organization Chart

    • List of Project Deliverables listed in the Master Document Register (MDR)

  • Able to speak comfortably in a group setting.

  • Demonstrates a continuing consciousness of safety in daily activities, and implemented in work designed.

  • Interfaces with other disciplines, and potentially with vendors, clients and/or contractors.

  • Pursues requirements to become a licensed Professional Engineer (if applicable).

  • Is held accountable for project schedule and budget for his discipline.

 

Requirements:

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering from ABET accredited institution

  • 10-20 years experience

  • Capable of leading hydraulic studies

  • Knowledge of API and ASME codes. pump selection, and pipe design 

Preferred:

  • P.E. preferred

  • Relevant experience in Petrochemical, Oil & Gas or Energy industry
